Wednesday 25th May 2022

There was plenty of rain in the night. At about 3.00 in the morning our Carbon Monoxide Alarm went off! I took the batteries out, put them back in and tested the alarm. It was no longer sounding the alarm so we went back to sleep. At about 9.00 the alarm went off again so I took out the batteries and put the alarm and the batteries in the bin! We must get another CO alarm - if in the meantime we're found dead in bed you'll know what has happened

We set off travelling east but we were soon stopped by the police who had closed the road ahead. Here you see the swiss motorist from the car in front of us arguing with a policeman.

We were held up here for about 2 hours while stage 17 of the Giro D'Italia cycle race went past.

Here's the fleeting moment when the riders were in our view.

We were then free to continue on our way slowly in a long line of vehicles following the cycle race.

We stopped for a cup of tea on the Tonale Pass (1883 metres).

There was a long descent down the other side of the pass. We were in 3rd gear most of the way to avoid cooking the brakes. In this photo we were about to enter a cloud inversion.

We stopped for the day at the town of Male.

Most of the town seems quite modern.

It's very ordered and un chaotic here.

There is a very nice drinking water fountain next to our parking place.

Today we travelled 41 miles (66 kilometres). We are at: N46.3505 E10.9109
