Before leaving Montbrun today we visited the local supermarket where we could also service the van as well as buying groceries. From there we had this great view back to Mont Ventoux.

We set of in an easterly direction travelling through some wild country.

Once you get into the hills round here lavender takes over from grapes as the main crop.

We crossed a lowish pass.

We could see Mont Ventoux again from this pass - it's a very recognisable landmark around these parts.

We passed more and more lavender fields.

We stopped for a cup of tea by a bridge over this wild river.

We continued east down this beautiful gorge.

Unfortunately we couldn't continue to the end of the gorge as it was temporarily closed for roadworks so we had to retrace our route back west for about 15 kilometres.

Our detour took us over a much higher and steeper pass.

The tyre marks on the road up to and down from the pass suggest boy racers have been around?

Looking east from the pass we thought we could make out snowy mountains in the far distance.

We stopped for the day at the town of Laragne-Monteglin.

We went to the local bakery for cream cakes.

This flowering tree overhangs our van at our parking place.

There is a line of modern sculptures up the path leading from where we are parked into town.

After we'd finished the cream cakes I took a walk up into town. This small river runs down from the town centre past our parking place. I manged to find a cash machine which would give me some euros without charging any commission but my main goal was to find a replacement kettle as our old one had started leaking and had to be binned this morning. I visited a couple of likely shops but both only had kettles which were much too big to fit in the available space in our pots and pans drawer.

Back at the van Ann was as usual doing all the work.

She refuses to let me do any cooking or washing up. I feel a right pig sitting around fiddling with my smartphone while she is slaving away over a hot stove!

Today we travelled 64 miles (103 kilometres). We are at: N44.3124 E5.8254
