Thursday 12th May 2022

This morning after servicing the van at the aire we tried to find a supermarket in town only to get caught up in the very crowded Thursday  market and were very lucky to get out unscathed! We travelled a short way south to the town of Sisteron were we did a bit of shopping before moving off east into an area where fruit growing is the main occupation as seen seen here.

We travelled eastwards through an area of considerable geological interest.

We were moving through the foothills of the alps and were nearing the bigger ranges,

We stopped for the day at the village of Le Lauzet-Ubaye. Here's the view from the side door of our van.

And here's the same view with mild telephoto. This is the first proper alpine peak we've seen close up on this trip. I can't tell you exactly how high it is as I don't have a local map but it looks to be in excess of 3000 metres (9840 feet) high.

Just downhill from our parking place is a beautiful lake.

It's been a lovely hot day - Ann got her chair out.

Later on we went for a walk around the lake .

And later still we went for our first meal out on this trip at an eatery a few metres uphill from our parking place.

Today we travelled 56 miles (90 kilometres). We are at: N44.4283 E6.4342
