Tuesday 27th August 2019

Today we returned from Shrewsbury to our home in Devon. We stopped along the way in The Wye Valley where Ann took this picture of the river.

We got home about 17.00. Ann started watering the plants just before it started raining.

Today we travelled 222 miles (357 kilometres).

We were away from home for 7 days and travelled a total of 469 miles (755 kilometres).

Monday 26th August 2019

It was quite overcast this morning. It soon cleared and turned into another very hot day. I went to see Andy Fairweather-Low and his band playing. Mostly old rock and roll numbers.

I also saw Michael Messer's Mitra - very good.

Judy left to go back to North Wales this afternoon. Andy came down to the van to say goodbye.

Later on I went to the Skerryvore Concert. Not really to my taste.

Sunday 25th August 2019

It was very very hot today. Here's the view of the river from our parking place.

Much too hot to sit out in the sun.

I bought a pint of beer and went to listen to a band called Merry Hell. I didn't like their music much.

We had pizza for tea. Later on Andy and Shraddabha came to visit us at our parking place.

Later on still our friends Julie and Tony came to visit. Julie and I discussed our common health problems!

Saturday 24th August 2019

It was very hot and sunny today. Some festival-goers took to swimming in the river but got told to stop by festival management. Apparently their insurance doesn't cover swimming.

Andy and Shraddabha came to visit us at our van.

They seem to be enjoying themselves.

It was quite a relief when the day cooled down later on.

Friday 23rd August 2019

We were up at 6.30 today and reached the Festival site by 7.00 where we were lined up for a while before getting in properly.

We parked the van at our usual place right next to the river. Our friend Judy from Bangor turned up about 11.30 and parked her van next to ours.

There are numerous food stalls on site. Ann and I had curry for tea which we bought from an on site caterer.

I went to watch some bands play. This is Mankala.

Here's Grace Petrie.

Here's Grace with her band.

Finally there was The Oysterband.

I went to stand at the front of the tent to watch where I bumped into Andy from Shrewsbury.

Then there was a very strange incident. I man who was standing next to me suddenly started shouting at me. I couldn't hear a word he was saying as the music was very load. He appeared extremely angry. I wasn't aware that I had done anything to annoy him. I thought that he might be about to assault me so I cleared off as quickly as I could. If you happen to read this Andy please understand that I felt I didn't have time to tell you I was off!

Today we travelled 6 miles (10 kilometres). We are at N52.71432 W2.76548

Thursday 22nd August 2019

It was cloudy this morning at our overnight parking place by the Severn.

We rather rashly (in retrospect) went for breakfast in the White Hart Inn. Not very nice, overpriced and left us feeling thirsty for the rest of the day.

We travelled north to Attingham Park just outside Shrewsbury where we met up with our friends Shraddabha and Andy  and went for walk around the park.

S and A are looking after a friend's dog while the friend is away on holiday.

Attingham Park is a marvellous mixture of parkland and woodland next to the River Severn.

We saw many fallow deer in the park.

We also saw these impressive fungi growing at the base of a beech tree. Later on Andy cooked us all a really nice meal back at their house in Shrewsbury. Tonight we are staying in a quiet playing field car park close to S and A's house.

Today we travelled 105 miles (169 kilometres). We are at N52.69021 W2.76331

Wednesday 21st August 2019

It's a nice morning at our home in Devon. We're setting off to travel to the Shrewsbury Folk Festival.

We left home about mid day and after stopping off locally to take on diesel and lpg we travelled north east stopping at the old Severn Bridge for a cup of tea and a flapjack.

We crossed the Severn Estuary going briefly into Wales at Chepstow and then headed north east along the river. We stopped for the day at the White Hart Inn near Newnham on Severn.

We're parked right by the estuary. Here's the view from our van. We haven't seen the Severn Bore yet but I don't think it does it every day.

There are some impressive cliffs just up river from here.

We watched a bit of TV. BoJo is off to meet Angela Merkel in Berlin today. I hope she sends him off with a flea in his ear!

Having looked over the pub menu we decided to eat in the van this evening and go for breakfast in the pub tomorrow.

A  really nice spot. Many thanks to the White Hart for your hospitality.

Today we travelled 136 miles (219 kilometres). We are at N51.81293 W2.43980
