Saturday 30th April 2022

 Today we travelled south east to the city of Bourges and parked in the centre.

From our parking place it was only a short walk to the cathedral.

The cathedral is truly enormous and is held up by numerous flying buttresses.

There was what we took to be a wedding party hanging around outside.

Inside the roof of the cathedral is an enormous height above.

The stained glass windows date from the middle ages and are noted as amongst the finest in Europe.

The cathedral walls are lined by many paintings.

There are also numerous statues.

The scale of the place is just mind blowing.

We exited the cathedral next to this old door.

We passed by the posh new city hall on the way back to our van.

We left Bourges and travelled south east to Sancoins were we have stopped for the day. As usual we are at the aire de camping cars! It's a bit crowded here.

We are parked next to a canal. Here's the view from our van.

Friday 29th April 2022

Today we travelled south east past the city of Blois and crossed the River Loire (with an e), After stopping to buy some groceries we parked for the day at the village of La Ferte Beauharnais. The aire de camping cars is by a fishing lake. Here's the view of the lake from our parking place,

We walked into the village centre. There are some old buildings.

The village shop is closed this afternoon - the owner had to go to Paris.

The chateau has a sculpture park in its grounds.

However they don't appear to want any visitors.

I had to be content to photograph the chateau through the railings.

The village restaurant appeared to be open.

It looked a bit pricey for us so we decided to eat in the van.

There are a few other vans here this evening (all French registered).

Thursday 28th April 2022

Before leaving Evron we serviced the van and bought some bread and wine at a local supermarket. We then headed south east stopping for a cup of tea at St. Calais before coming on to Les Roches l'eveque where we parked by the River Loir (without an e) at the aire de camping cars. Here's the view from the side door of our van.

When we arrived we found another British registered van already here. The first we had seen since leaving Cherbourg!

This is a really nice peaceful spot.

Cave dwellers live in the cliff above the aire.

Ann took a walk around some of the cave dwellings.

She also found this cave.

She was up high above the aire.

The other British registered van here has a really cool number plate.

I wonder where they're from?

I walked around the village.

Here's the view from the bridge over the Loir looking downstream.

Later on another British registered van turned up making it 3 in all including us. Ann chatted to the occupants as seen through our left side rear view mirror. I had a chat with them a while later. They're on their way back from Spain.
