Sunday 24th April 2022

It was raining this morning at Porbail however it cleared up and the day soon brightened up. We came south the short distance to the town of Lessay and parked at the municipal aire. Here's the view from the side of our van.

The aire has an excellent free service point.

Lessay is a very attractive little town.

We paid a visit to the Abbey.

The Abbey was deliberately destroyed by the German military in the Second World War but then it was rebuilt stone by stone by the locals after the hostilities had finished.

The monks apparently do Gregorian chanting here on Sundays but we didn't hear or see any of them today.

Here's another defaced inlaid sculpture like the ones we saw in Portbail church.

The monks live in this rather nice looking building on the other side of their private lawn.

It must have been a real big job rebuilding this after the German's had finished with it!

We walked into the town centre. The town hall is very new and flashy.

Ann had a little rest outside the town hall.

It was the French Presidential Election today. I'm glad to say that according to the exit polls President Macron has won. What a relief!

There is a nice wetland area next to our parking place.

The path trough the wetland leads to a children's play area.

There are also some boule pitches nearby.

Today we travelled 14 miles (23 kilometres). We are at: N49.2182 W1.5364
