Before leaving the aire at Villecomtal we left 5 euros in the donation box and serviced the van. We travelled south and just before arriving at the town of Millau we saw a sign and followed it to a viewpoint of the world famous Millau Viaduct. From there you don't really get that good a view of it.

Nearby Ann set eyes on this old disused church and set off to investigate it.

Another view of the church.

The graveyard is well kept.

Someone still tends this grave.

We stopped in Millau to do a supermarket shop and washed our clothes at the supermarket laundrette. The dryer at the laundrette ripped us off to the tune of 3 euros. We also made two abortive attempts to top up our LPG tanks in town. On both occasions the petrol stations were unpersoned and the payment machines only worked for petrol and diesel but not LPG. On the second attempt we came close to damaging a mirror on an adjacent motorists car! We weren't too sorry to leave Millau - we drove south passing under the viaduct.

We stopped for the day at the village of St Jean D'Arclas. Th aire de camping car is next to a cemetery.

The village's heart is ancient and fortified. It dates from the 15th Century.

The people who build this must have been very frightened of someone of something.

I went in through this arch.

People still live inside the fortification.

Everything seems well cared for within the walls.

There is even a restaurant (closed at the time of my visit).

Here's a view from the far side.

That completes the circuit of the fortifications,

The Mayor's and tourist offices are opposite.

Today we travelled 92 miles (148 kilometres). We are at: N43.9262 E3.0086
