Wednesday 18th May 2022

Today we travelled north. Before long the imposing peak of Mont Blanc came into view.

We went through a tunnel along the way.

We stopped at a campervan accessory shop before we got to Chamonix. We bought a new kettle for our van as the old one had sprung a leak. The view of "The Blanc" was stunning from outside the shop. Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in western Europe and stands at over 4800 metres above sea level.

We stopped in Chamonix to take on diesel and  groceries before stopping for the day at the village of Argentiere. We are parked next to a very large, very old British registered van which doesn't look like it's been anywhere for a while. I looked up it's registration number on the DVLA website and found out that its MOT had run out in 2016 but that it was road taxed till July this year!

Here's the view from our van.

I took a walk into the village crossing the river Arve on the way.

On the way to the village other big mountains come into view. This is the Aiguille du Chardonnet.

This is the Aiguille Verte.

This is The Office - a well know bar and restaurant - closed on Wednesdays.

Here's the church. Despite it being well after lunchtime all the shops in the village were closed this afternoon. Maybe it's not considered to be "the season" in Argentiere or maybe Wednesday is early closing day?

Today we travelled 53 miles (85 kilometres). We are at: N45.9795 E6.9262
