Tuesday 10th May 2022

This morning I was up early and off to the nearby bakery in St Restitut to buy some croissants for our breakfast. After servicing the van at the aire we left the village and visited the chateau at the nearby town of Suze la Russe.

The chateau is high on a hill above the town and there are some good views looking down.

This is the courtyard of the chateau.

After leaving Suze la Russe we travelled a short distance south to try to visit the well preserved roman amphitheatre in the town of Orange. Unfortunately the town was a traffic nightmare and we couldn't find anywhere to park so we gave up on that idea and headed east towards the Alps - down Cyprus Avenue?

We stopped for a cup of tea at the foot of Mont Ventoux - you can see the communications mast on the summit in this telephoto.

While we were having tea our friend Andy from Shrewsbury got in touch by WhatsApp - he was concerned that we hadn't posted on our blog for four days and were we alright? We thanked him for his concern and assured him we were okay - it was just that we hadn't had a good 4G signal for the last 3 nights. He is setting out in his van today and is booked to cross from Poole to Cherbourg tomorrow.

We phoned our friend Judy from Bangor. She was also wondering why we hadn't posted for so long. She requested a photo of me wearing my sunhat.

We stopped for the day at the town of Montbrun les Bains. Here's the view from the side door of our van - we're parked next to a small stream.

There are a few other vans here.

We can see the town from here.

We crossed the stream over an old bridge and walked into town.

It was too late for lunch when we got to the restaurant and unfortunately they're only open in the evenings Wednesdays to Sundays!

As its name suggests this town is a spa but we didn't come across the baths or the source .......

...... unless this is it?!

Today we travelled 60 miles (97 kilometres). We are at: N44.1728 E5.4399
