More cows came to see us this morning - one chewed on the wing mirror. We had desperate problems trying to start the van - after about 25 tries it finally started just as we were about to give up. Had the van failed to start we could not have called our rescue service as we had no phone or internet reception in the forest. We went back to Saignelegier and serviced the van before driving around aimlessly trying to find mobile reception. Decided to return to France and immediately we got there our mobile communications were restored!! We stopped for the day at the Aire at Villers le Lac. We are parked by the River Doubs - here's the view from our sliding door!

This is a really beautiful place.

I took a walk into the nearby town centre.

Not much to see here but a nice enough little place. I bought some cake and bread at the supermarket.

There are some nice rocks across the river from our parking place.

A couple of people turned up asking us to pay for the parking, Doubting their credentials I asked for an invoice before paying. As it turned out they were genuine and after a visit to the reception I obtained this receipt which is now displayed on our windscreen.

There are quite a few vans here this evening.

The river looks fantastic in the evening light.
