Thursday 8th May 2025

Today we started of by doing the laundrette and supermarket in Anor.

We moved on southwards and parked for the day at the Aire at Rozoy sur Serre.

Ann befriended a local chicken. A 4.7 kilometre circular trail starts and ends at the Aire. It is graded easy. Can be walked in 1 hour 30 minutes or cycled in 1 hour. We set off. Nice straight track through the forest on what looks like a disused railway embankment.

After about 2 kilometres we came to a road and crossed the river Serre.

We passed this shrine.

We climbed a steep hill.

We turned off the road onto a rough track. The going became bumpy and hazardous for Ann.

There were many potholes and rocks to negotiate. Totally unsuitable for Ann's wheels!

The worst came right at the end. The track went into a ford across the Serre! There was however a narrow path leading to a foot bridge over the river. We did not fancy the idea of driving an electric vehicle with very little ground clearance into the ford. I asked Ann to wait behind, folded up her wheels and carried it over the footbridge. Here it is on the other side. I went back and found Ann and helped her over the precarious path and bridge. We were VERY glad to get back to our van comparatively unscathed! Ann cooked chicken and vegetable curry for our tea which was very good. We had raspberries and cream for pud.

Today we travelled 27 miles ( 43 kilometres) in our van. We are at: N49.7139 E4.1214
