Wednesday 5th October 2022

As is customary at Poole Ferry Terminal everything becomes very lively at 6.30. For the first time when we have been here the Cafe has opened! We got up and got dressed hastily and were soon checked in and waiting to board.

Unfortunately I left my camera in the van on the ship but you didn't miss much. The service left Poole on time at 8.30 and arrived at Cherbourg on time at 14.00. The crossing was quite rough and Ann felt a bit sick. When we arrived in France we bought some wine in Cherbourg and then headed a short distance south to the village of Rauville La Bigot where we parked at the Aire de Camping Car, seen here.

Just across the grass from the Aire is this stone and cross. There is no interpretive sign to explain their significance.

Here's a close up of the cross.

Also at the Aire is this statue of a cyclist. The sign explains that he was from this village and was once upon a time leading the Tour de France cycle race!

The Aire is in a beautiful setting very close to the village centre. Everything is lovingly kept and the service point is free to use. Many thanks to the Municipality of Rauville for thinking of us campingcarists and providing such a nice place for us to stay. Later on a couple of other vans arrived for the night - one of them with British registration.

Today we travelled 14 miles (23 kilometres), excluding the distance of the ferry crossing from Poole to Cherbourg. We are at: N49.5163 W1.6835
