Friday 14th October 2022

It was raining this morning in  Romieu but it cleared up as the day went on. We headed south stopping to do a supermarket shop in the town of Condom. We continued south towards the Pyrenees stopping again to service the van and have a cup of tea before stopping for the day at the town of Campan in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Here's a view from our parking place.

We befriended a local cat.

We took a walk around town. Here's the market hall.

These buildings have very recently been fire damaged.

There are a few nice murals around the place.

Here's the war memorial.

This shrine is in the cloister next to the war memorial.

The church is just to the right.

We went inside the church.

There is some fine stained glass.

Also some old paintings.

We saw these interesting old structures. Apparently the water flowing through was used to cool perishable foodstuffs before the days of refrigerators!?

We walked down towards the river. This sign makes clear that all humans and animals must refrain from relieving themselves here and instead use the public toilets at the town hall!

The river is wild. Very unlike the lowland rivers we've seen travelling down through France.

Back at our van we gave the cat we'd befriended earlier a few scraps and it became a bit over friendly!

There are quite a few other cats around. What's it about this car that makes it so nice to lie on? Good news from back home - sounds like the Tories are in total meltdown!

Today we travelled 89 miles (143 kilometres). We are at: N43.0181 E0.1785
