Tuesday 11th October 2022

It was overcast with frequent showers today. We travelled south to the village of St Vincent Jalmoutiers stopping along the way for a cup of tea and to buy a few oddments. We're stopped at the village's very low key Aire de Camping Car seen here.

We're parked next to a small river. Here's the view from the side door of our van.

There's a bridge over the river just in front of our parking place.

The Aire has an excellent service point with free fresh water.

There is even a (very small) toilet block.

The village centre is about 200 metres from the Aire. We took a walk there.

There is a small restaurant and shop here as well as a very old church.

Churches of this type and era are known, I think, as Romanesque.

We went inside. It was a bit murky.

Ann reckons this window is of very old glass.

The walls behind the alter are covered in murals which we found hard to understand in the dim light.

The church roof is covered in plastic sheeting as were some other building's roofs in the village. Storm damage perhaps.

There are a couple of rustic implements in the village centre.

Here's another.

The local hens are genuinely free range. We saw this one rooting around by the bridge next to the Aire.

There is an Aire de Pique-Nique just the other side of the river from the Aire de Camping Car. This old man and old woman each with their dog turned up separately for a (pre-arranged?) chat and a walk. The old woman was bent almost double when she walked with the aid of a stick but she could drive her car okay.

Today we travelled 80 miles (129 kilometres). We are at: N45.2006 E0.1905
