We headed west today on minor roads up into some very remote areas in Western Asturias. We passed a sign warning us to beware of bears!

We headed up towards a high pass,

We stopped on the pass which is worryingly called The Pass of the Dead Women !

There were a few crocuses up on the pass.

We tried to research the origin of The Pass's name on the internet but as is the case with so many old place names its origin is obscure. The best theory we could find was that many years ago a group of women were caught out by bad weather on the pass and their bodies were found there in the spring when the snows cleared!

We descended from the pass and soon crossed from Asturias into Galicia. We stopped for a cup of tea where we had this spectacular view to a river far below.

On the Park4Night App we found what we thought would be a nice place to spend the night but when we got there the parking place had been covered by enormous piles of road building material. There would have been room for us to park there but we had visions of the road builders turning up first thing in the morning with big machines so we decided to move on!

We arrived at the Galician town of Lugo. Here are the town walls which completely surround the historical centre.

We stopped for the day at the Aire in Lugo. The River Minho is far below.

The Aire is very spacious.

I took a walk up to town. It's a very long way up but I got there eventually.

I bought a few groceries. Here's a view of the cathedral over the city walls. Like many cathedrals in Galicia it's modeled on the one in Santiago de Compostella.

I walked through this nice park on he way back to the Aire.

It's dark now. There are lots of vans here tonight but none parked near us (yet).

Today we travelled 92 miles (148 kilometres). We are at: N43.0042 W7.5612
