Saturday 8th October 2022

This morning we set off southwards and travelled to the City of Nantes arriving in the centre about 13.00. We wanted to see the famous and enormous mechanical elephant which lives on an island in the Loire in the centre of Nantes. Please see: The Elephant . When we arrived at the site of the elephant we simply couldn't find anywhere to park. The dedicated parking for the elephant has a 2.2 metre height barrier and all the surrounding streets were packed with parked cars. We drove around for about 45 minutes before giving up and heading south east out of the city. We stopped for a cup of tea and something to eat at The Nantes Wine Museum. Please see: Nantes Wine Museum . As we were leaving I very carelessly scraped the left rear of the van on a low wall in the museum car park. A large chunk of plastic fairing was knocked off and the lower fridge breather grill was badly damaged as well as the surrounding bodywork. We stopped for the day at the Aire de Camping Car at Mortagne Sur Sevre. When we got out of the van we saw that the damaged lower fridge breather grill had dropped off en route! I have done a temporary repair with plastic shelf liner as seen here.

Here's the view from our parking place.

The river Sevre is nearby.

There is a french registered van parked next to us this evening.

Today we travelled 113 miles (182 kilometres). We are at: N46.9856 W0.9584
