Saturday 8th June 2019

As the permanent aire de camping cars at Piriac was closed for renovation, the temporary aire got quite crowded over night. Ann spring-cleaned the van.

We left Piriac and moved on to the Barrage d'Arzal where we saw a casualty of yesterday's storm.

I'm surprised that this is the only fallen tree we have seen so far.

This is the barrage across the mouth of the river Villaine.

There's a beautiful quiet parking spot here down by the river but unfortunately camper vans are forbidden.

We went into the town of Roche St Bernard briefly but decided that it was too popular for its own good. We did stop for a while by the suspension bridge which crosses the Villaine next to the town.

We stopped for the day at the aire de camping cars at Kervoyal. It's right by the beach and costs 9.50 euros for 24 hours.

We took a walk on the beautiful sandy beach.

There are extensive oyster beds here but I remember an old saying - something about only eating oysters when there is an r in the month!

There is some WW2 archaeology here.

The dunes behind the beach are rich with wild flowers.

It's a really nice time of the year to be here.

Here are some more.

Today we travelled 45 miles (72 kilometres). We are at N47.51482 W2.55868
