Monday 4th December 2017

A beautiful sunny day. I was up early this morning and across the Super U car park to get the croissants. After a leisurely breakfast we did a more thorough shop to thank Super U for their excellent overnight hospitality. We left Calvi and climbed up high into the hills on a minor road. You can just see Calvi in the distance.

Here's a telephoto of Calvi taken from the same vantage point.

We traveled east on minor roads passing this interesting cemetery along the way.

We passed through wild country with views of snowy mountains. Often we had to be careful driving as the road had patches of snow and ice.

Cattle were often a bit of an obstacle.

We stopped for the day at the town of Corte where there are tremendous views to the surrounding mountains.

We had a walk around town and dropped in to the Archaeology Department.

They have a small museum which housed this model of a "faced" menhir similar to the ones we had seen at Cauria.

There were also these beautiful stone axe heads.

We walked up to a viewpoint where we had this sight of the Citadel. You can only visit the Citadel as part of a visit to the Museum which was closed today.

We wandered around the old town. Here's the main square. We bought some postcards, stamps and a book on Corsican archaeology.

Today we traveled 63 miles (101 kilometres). We are at N42.30794 E9.14765
