Friday 2nd October

We travelled east from St Flour heading for Le Puy en Velay. We stopped for a cup of tea at a layby just past Saugues. Here's a view looking down towards the town.

Ann wandered off and photographed several rather strange statues around the layby. A wolf? A dragon?

Candles?

What is this?

Le Puy en Velay proved very difficult as we couldn't find anywhere to park so we moved on a short way south to the village of Coubon.

We parked for the night on some waste ground next to the Loire (yes The Loire). We are not too far from its source here so it is not a very big river. It rained a lot during the afternoon and evening. Travelled 71 miles (114 kilometres) today.
