Monday 18th October 2021

The school buses were off early this morning and by the time we were up they were back at their parking places.

A high peak is visible from Vinca. I think it is Pic du Canigou (2784 metres).

We set off east, stopping at Thuir to do a supermarket shop. We finally reached the Med at the town of St Cyprian. We parked for a brief period by the marina before deciding it wasn't our kind of town and so we moved off south down the coast.

We stopped for the day at the aire de camping cars in Port Vendres.

We are parked very very close to an overhanging branch. Was this good luck or good parking?

We took a walk along the coast path.

The port area is all fenced off but going south you can get down to the sea.

There are some nice looking beaches nearby.

The Poisson Rouge Restaurant opens at 19.30 and we considered going back there for a meal this evening however when we looked at their menu on Google we decided that it was a bit too pricey for me and too fishy for Ann!

There are lots of cacti along the coastal path here.

We passed these old fortifications. "Danger of death, access forbidden"!

It costs 12 euros per night to stay at the aire. Reputedly the local police come round every morning at 8.00 and collect the money.

Today we travelled 45 miles (72 kilometres). We are at: N42.5177 E3.1138
