This morning we made the short journey through Limoges and south to the village of Solignac. This is the facade of the Abbey Church in Solignac.

The interior of the church appears quite austere.

There are some intricate carvings on the seats in the choir.

The monastery itself no longer has any monks. It's last use was as a porcelain factory.

We moved on south and stopped for the day at the aire in the village of Lanouaille. Here's the view from our parking place.

There were dramatic scenes nearby - an old warehouse had caught fire!

It took a lot of effort by the firefighters to get the fire under control.

Lots of locals turned out to watch the proceedings.

We visited the church - a modern and not very interesting building.

Later on I bought some cakes from the patisserie and there were two burials in the local cemetery

Today we travelled 44 miles (71 kilometres). We are at:N45.3925 E1.1402

Hi Ann & Roger, Since you left Widecombe it looks like you've had quite a lot of rain, fortunately (for us) it's been particularly dry and mild here, probably won't last though! As you said it's interesting that for a couple of confirmed aetheists your interest in church and cathedral buildings, but I agree they are mostly very impressive structures. All is OK at home. Great Blog as usual.
Best wishes....Steve & Margaret

Hi Steve and Margaret, Many thanks for your message. Actually the weather here has been really warm and sunny for the last few days but cold at nights. Thanks so much for keeping an eye on our house and post box. Roger and Ann.
