Sunday 24th October 2021

It was very cold this morning down by the river. 0 degrees on the thermometer when I got up to turn on the heating. The sun was still coming down the mountain when we left our parking place at about 10.30. We travelled west passing through some sensational mountain scenery such as seen here.

I'm afraid these photos don't do justice to the amazing colours in the vegetation here at this time of year.

Later on in our journey we went through a strange "bad lands" area.

We stopped for the day at the town of Ainsa in Aragon. We are parked at their aire.

We previously visited here in December 2016. This is the main square.

It's a bit of a tourist trap but nice with it. We bought some biscuits and some local liquor in a couple of touristy shops.

Here's the church. You can see Ann with her mask on in the shadows.

There are great views from the town walls.

The River Cinca flows through Ainsa.

This knight in armour was taking all due precautions!

This is Monte Perdido (3348 metres) seen from our parking place at the aire.

From the aire we walked out into the countryside.

We sat on a bench.

Then we walked up to a high viewpoint.

From here we had fine views into the valley of the River Cinca.

A mountain biker turned up. He had two little dogs with him.

We could see back to the aire from the viewpoint. The nearest van in the centre of the picture is ours.

Later on we went back into town and had ham, cheese, toast, olive oil and wine sitting outside a restaurant in the main square.

It got dark while we were eating.

Here are our shadows as we made our way the short distance back to our van.

Today we travelled 58 miles (93 kilometres). We are at: N42.4193 E0.1344
