It would be fair to say that overall today was not a particularly good day. I mentioned yesterday that I thought we had found a nice quiet place to park in Rodby - well at about 7.00 this morning a couple of work persons turned up and proceeded to trim the hedge right next to where we were parked with a very  noisy hedge trimmer. We booked a ferry crossing online from Rodbyhavn to Puttgarden in Germany and were soon down to the port and on our way. Here's the view from the front of the ship as we left the harbour.

There is a sailing every half hour in each direction on the Rodbyhaven to Puttgarden route. Here's another ferry passing us in the opposite direction.

We soon landed in Germany and set off south. The port of Puttgarden is on an island -here's the bridge crossing to mainland Germany. We headed towards the town of Gromitz but encountered a road closure and had to make a massive detour to get there. Both of the parking places our guidebook indicated in Gromitz were expensive and uninspiring so after taking on water we moved on south to to the seaside resort of Pelzerhaken.

When we arrived in Pelzerhaken we nearly had a very nasty road accident. I failed to notice a give way line in the road we were traveling down which gave traffic coming out of a side road priority. A car coming out of the side road just managed to stop in time before running into our van. Ann says she saw the give way line across the road but did not recognise it for what it was and therefore didn't warn me that I was failing to observe it. We found a car park by the sea and paid 2.50 euros to park there for 24 hours. A local kite surfer introduced himself and invited us to watch him kite surfing. Unfortunately there wasn't enough wind for him to get going

.

We went for a ride on our bikes. There are some really nice cycle tracks along the beach. There are also some interesting pieces of stone based art.

Just as we were having our tea and a few drinks we were revisited by the German kite surfer. He explained that even though we had a valid parking ticket for 24 hours we were not allowed to stay in our vehicle overnight and that if we did we would face dire consequences from the local authorities! This put us in a difficult position as we had both been drinking alcohol but we decided that we were possibly under the limit and one of us drove the few hundred metres to the nearby motorhome parking area, pictured here, where we are staying tonight. It costs 13 euros to stay here overnight plus 2.30 euros each "tourist tax".

Today we traveled 60 miles (97 kilometres). We are at N54.0910 E10.87271
