Saturday 3rd June 2017

From our overnight parking place on the E75 we returned to the E6 and traveled east. The landscape is different here with low hills heavily sculpted by the ice.

We passed this frozen waterfall.

Further east we saw this extensive flat area. Probably marshy when it thaws out.

We went into Kirkenes and made a couple of minor purchases with our remaining Norwegian currency. We had vaguely planned to stay at the aire next to the Hurtigruten quay which had looked very attractive under several feet of snow and in bright sunshine when we were here at the end of February. However on a foul day like this it just looked a tip so we serviced the van and left.

We moved back west a few kilometres down the E6 to this rest area by a fjord where we stopped for the day. The weather has been vile with rain, sleet and snow and high gusting wind,

There appears to have been a geological event here.

The Norwegian Coastguard ship went past.

Today we traveled 98 miles (158 kilometres). We are at N69.74358 E29.73774 (Istanbul is more or less due south of here!)
