This morning our ship arrived at Naantali and unloaded its cargo of lorries cars and camper vans.

We checked in and to our amazement the white van two in front of us in the queue has British registration plates. This is the second British registered vehicle we have seen since we arrived in Scandinavia weeks ago. Incidentally the orange Finnish registered van in front of ours is the same model as our van but a lot newer.

When we finally got on board we had the first of two excellent buffet type meals which were included in the already very moderate price of the fare. The ship finally left port about one and a half hours behind schedule.

We introduced ourselves to the couple from the British registered van who turned out to be from Exeter, they're called Susie.........

..........and Andy. We spent most of the voyage chatting to them. Like us they are enthusiasts of travel in Scandinavia. Very nice people.

We arrived in the Swedish port of Kapellskar an hour ahead of schedule despite having left Naantali one and a half hours late and having made a brief stop at Langnas in the Aland Islands on the way.

When we tried to get back to our van on the vehicle deck we got caught up in a ridiculous person jam which was actually quite scary and not made any better by a Latvian registered lorry which started up its engine on the closed vehicle deck while we were in the people jam right next to it.

When we got off the ferry we headed towards the city of Uppsala where we are planning to fill up our LPG tanks tomorrow. We stopped at a garage along the way and filled up our fresh water tank. We found the LPG depot in Uppsala which was as we had expected closed by the time we arrived there and then moved on to a car park at Gamla Uppsala where we are staying tonight.

Today we traveled 66 miles (106 kilometres) while driving our van - plus the ferry crossing from Naantali in Finland to Kapellskar in Sweden. We are at N59.89794 E17.63583
