Monday 19th June 2017

This morning we traveled first west, then south and finally east crossing this bridge onto the Danish island of Mon.

After stopping to buy groceries we moved on and visited the church at Elmelunde which is the oldest stone church on Mon and dates back to 1085 AD.

There is a bronze age burial mound in the churchyard - clearly this has been an important place long before the advent of christianity.

Inside the church the roof is adorned with extensive medieval murals. There are some pretty horrific scenes!

A depiction of hell?

The overall effect of so many old murals is very powerful.

Here's a more general view of the church interior.

We moved on and stopped for the day at the village of Klintholm Havn on the Baltic coast. When we arrived this amazing "mobile hotel" was in the car park. The "bedroom" area has three stories so the "bedroooms" are probably like coffins with a window at the head end. I don't think I would want to sign up for one of their tours! Anyway they soon moved off.

This German registered tall ship is in the harbour.

We took a walk along the harbour wall.

We also had a stroll on the beach.

This is the posh end of the village. They definitely don't want you to bring your van down here. There are "no camping" signs every few metres!

The car park where we are staying and "camping" is tolerated is very popular, there are currently twelve camper vans here including three from Italy lined up abreast! We went out for a meal in the village this evening.

To day we traveled 66 miles (106 kilometres). We are at N54.95442 E12.46767
