Tuesday 1st November 2022

It was sunny early on in Arcade. We serviced the van and set off south. It soon became very misty but cleared up a bit later. We tried to do a supermarket shop but realised  all the shops were shut for a public holiday - All Saints Day?? We soon crossed into Portugal.

Soon after we arrived in Portugal we found an open supermarket and did a major shop. Maybe they're an irreligious lot here? We stopped for a cup of tea along the way.

We stopped for the day at the mountain village of Soajo. Here's the view from our parking place.

There had been a market here today but it was in the process of packing up when we arrived.

Just a few metres away from our parking place there is a plethora of granite grain stores.

I tried to research this on the internet. It is very difficult to work out whether these were originally built here or whether they were brought here as some sort of museum.

Why would a small village like this need so many grain stores and why would they all be in the same place rather than next to individual houses?

Ann visited the village cemetery.

She likes a good cemetery visit.

Maybe a bit of Celtic influence?

There are lots of feral dogs....

....and a feral horse.....

.....and feral cats here.

There was  a nice sunset. There are a few other vans here tonight. I spoke to a French man from one of the vans in French. We had a proper conversation. I'm quite proud of that.

Today we travelled 61 miles (98 kilomettres). We are at: N41.8719 W8.2631
