Today was a very strange and unsatisfactory day! It was overcast with rain most of the time. We serviced the van before leaving Medellin while being accosted by a very large white goose demanding food.

We gave it some stale bread and it calmed down a bit. We set off heading north east for the aire at Deleitosa. We stopped to do a supermarket shop along the way and to have a cup of tea. After travelling quite a way on the motorway towards Madrid we turned off onto a minor road. The approach to the aire was horrific through very narrow village streets and when we got there the place was a tip and neither of us wanted to stay there. We set our sat nav to take us north east to the aire at Oropesa but because we didn't want to try to get out of the village the same way as we had come in we left the village on a small country road heading in the wrong direction.

We stopped along the way to photograph an Iberian Black Pig. These are the source of the celebrated Jamon Iberico which I have mentioned a couple of times on this trip's blog. To cut a very long story short the country road took us on a massive loop in the wrong direction and we eventually got onto the motorway again way back south west from where we had left it to turn off to Deleitosa.

After a further journey along the motorway we turned off to approach the aire at Oropesa. When we were about 3 kilometres from the aire we saw a sign directing us to an aire which we followed. This took us to the aire at Langartera which we initially parked at before realising our error and moving on to the aire at Oropesa - bizarre!! Soon after we arrived here we were joined by a German registered van. Here's the truly inspiring view from the windscreen of our van,. It's still raining!

Today we travelled 140 miles (225 kilometres), much of it in the wrong direction! We are at: N39.9213 W5.1675
