It was cold in the night and this morning. We had very little LPG (gas) left for heating, hot water and cooking and our leisure battery was running very low. Time to restock. We left Sault heading south and got this good telephoto picture of the summit of Mont Ventoux (1909 metres) soon after leaving.

We soon reached the town of Apt where we could refill our LPG cylinders. We then headed east passing these strange rock formations at Cereste.

Heading east on the D900 there were several avenues of plane trees like this.

We passed many fields planted with lavender along the way. This is quite a feature of Provence and must look amazing in the summer.

We went over an 1100 metre mountain pass which culminated in a narrow gorge where we met an enormous lorry going in the opposite direction  and had to back our van to avoid being obliterated! Eventually we started to descend to the town of Castellane which is mainly famous for its enormous rock seen here on the descent.

We're staying at Castellane tonight. We're parked between the rock and the river.

After dark the rock is floodlit - it looks amazing with the church on top etc!
