We left Castellane this morning and followed the River Verdon west.

We soon reached Point Sublime from where you can see into the start of the deep and steep section of the Verdon Gorge.

This gorge is something else!

The only other place that I have been to that comes close is the Grand Canyon of Colorado/Utah in the USA.

This gorge is up to 1000 metres deep.

From high on the gorge rim we could see east to the snowy peaks of the Alpes Maritimes.

Having travelled west along the north side of the Verdon Gorge we came to the large reservoir at the end and crossed to the south side of the gorge on this bridge.

The views from the south side of the gorge are just as stunning. How about this looking back to the reservoir from a high pass?

Or this amazing loop in the river 1000 metres below where we were standing?

We met this goat on the road along the way.

The mountain vegetation looked beautiful in the afternoon sun.

After completing our tour of the Verdon Gorges we travelled east over numerous high passes to the town of Puget Theniers where we are stopped for the night. It's Ann's birthday!
