A beautiful day - specially as it is the winter solstice. About 18 degrees C, bright sun and blue sky. We set off east along the notorious SP1 coast road - notorious for traffic snarl ups and slow progress. Not bad at all today - more cyclists than cars.

We stopped in Savona to do a supermarket shop. Here's a view of Savona Castle.

It took a while to get through Genoa but it wasn't as bad as you might expect and we arrived at our destination, San Rocco, at about 4.30. Here's the view from our parking place.

We stayed here before, in April 2012 on our way to southern Italy and ultimately Greece, Bulgaria, Romania etc.

It got dark as we wandered into the village so we could see the lights across the bay.

The church was all lit up.

Some of the streets in San Rocco are very narrow indeed and with steps - no way could you get a car down them.

There was a beautiful sunset over the Med.
