Monday 1st May 2017

This morning we made the shortish journey north east from France into Belgium and stopped at the very posh and very expensive town aire in Brugge.

We took a short walk into town passing this swannery.

As in many tourist traps if you've got more money than sense you can take a trip round town in a horse and cart.

We had a look around one of the many nick nack shops.

If the horse and cart doesn't appeal you can take a trip around town by boat.

The Cathedral is quite impressive.

We went inside and had a look around.

We saw this impressive stained glass window - one of many.

We visited this fine square.

Upstairs we had a beer and a coffee and watched the world go by.

All the tourists seemed to be into selfies so we decided to try to join them.

This is apparently the most photographed view in Brugge - it's probably better when the tree on the left is in leaf.

Brugge is famous for chocolate.

And it is also famous for lace (and beer).

There is lots of interesting public art in town.

In comparison to the comparatively austere cathedral we found plenty of bling in the nearby catholic church.

After a few hours of this we were thoroughly Brugged out and we staggered  back to our van past these rather fine tulips. Brugge is alright but I don't think it's a real wow.

Today we traveled 65 miles (105 kilometres). We are at N51.19575 E3.22558
