This morning we made a short journey west from Arcais passing the City of La Rochelle and over the impressive bridge onto the Ile de Re. The bridge had a toll charge of 8 euros. Hopefully it will be free on the way back?

Just over the bridge we stopped at the Aire de Camping Cars in Rivedoux Plage. Here's the view back to the bridge from our parking place. The Aire costs 10 euros for 24 hours but that includes electricity which we were keen to have as our leisure battery was quite low after 9 days wild camping in mid winter conditions.

We got out our bikes and set off along really excellent dedicated cycle tracks initially along the coast.

Later the cycle route went inland but there were excellent signs and maps all along the way.

When we got to the village of La Flotte we stopped for a rest by the harbour before heading back.

When we got back to our van there were large numbers of geese floating on the sea just offshore.

Today were two very important anniversaries for us - eight years since we bought our campervan and six years since I retired from work. Being retired is undoubtedly the best job I've ever had!

This evening a marvelous full moon came up over the bridge.

Here it is with a bit of telephoto.

Today we traveled 36 miles (58 kilometres) in our van. Our GPS coordinates here are N46.15978 W1.26669
