Saturday 10th December 2016

Very misty this morning. Moved on up the Loire and parked by the river for a while. Couldn't see anything. Decided to go into Saumur and just as we were getting there in early afternoon the mist cleared and we were in bright sunshine. We parked by the Chateau.

One of Chateau de Saumur's turrets has this amazing gilded structure.

Unfortunately at this time of year you can't go inside the Chateau. However there are some interesting outbuildings. I bet you can't see me!

While we were walking around the Chateau a hot air balloon came by.

We moved on a little further up the Loire and parked for the night at the village of Turquant. Here we are at the village Aire de Camping Cars.

Turquant is very interesting and, in common with many of the villages around here, the houses started off as cave dwellings but later had built structures added at the caves mouths.

This is a shop in Turquant.

Today we traveled 42 miles (68 kilometres). We are at N47.22395 E0.02859
