There was a hailstorm this morning at Alberobello. After it had subsided we moved off and stopped at Fasano to do some grocery shopping. Then instead of taking the main coast road south we took a minor road inland which runs parallel with the coast and missed the major city port of Brindesi. Above is a street scene in one of the small towns we went through.

After passing inland of Brindesi we came back to the coast. We stopped to make a cup of tea by the Adriatic at Casa I'Abate.

This Kingfisher was waiting for a fish just in front of where we were parked.

We have stopped for the night on some waste ground by the sea at Torre Specchia Ruggeri. The large city of Lecce is only a few kilometres inland from here but you wouldn't know it - there are very few people around.

To our amazement we could see the snowy mountains of Albania on the other side of the Adriatic, about 80 kilometres away. They were really clear but hard to photograph. This picture doesn't do justice to the view.

It is very windy. As the sun went down it caught the waves.

I guess this must be the Torre Specchia Ruggeri which the village is named after.

After dark the moon came up from behind Albania - very large, very red and partially obscured by clouds. It is very atmospheric sitting in our campervan which is being rocked by strong gusts of wind and hearing the waves crashing onto the shore just a few metres away from us. It's my sister Pip's birthday - happy birthday Pip!
