Having moved into town last evening I'm glad to say that the rest of the night was uneventful. This morning travelled south along the Adriatic coast and past the Port of Bari from where we had taken a ferry to Patras in Greece in 2012 - (see blog archive if you're interested). Once we had passed Bari we turned inland and into more rural areas.

As we moved away from the coast and onto slightly higher ground we found that there was still a fair amount of snow around.

We arrived in the town of Alberobello at about 1.00 pm and parked for the day and night in the very crowded and very expensive (18 euros for 24 hours) camper park.

Alberobello is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for the reason that it contains the highest concentration of Trullo any where.

Trullo are the traditional Puglian houses. They are very distinctive - shaped like old fashioned bee hives.

There are hundreds of them in Alberobello.

There are also two quite interesting churches in town. This one has Trullo type roofs.

And is quite austere in side.

The other is quite ornate both outside..........

..........and inside.

Saw this doll on display in the second church - what's it about. Jesus's mother when she was a baby?

As you will have gathered by now the place is an absolute tourist trap with many of the Trulli (singular) being used as nick nack shops. Any way we're thoroughly Trullied out by now and we've gone back to our van for a quiet night in.
