Sunday 19th May 2019

It rained overnight at Montebourg and it was raining this morning, We moved on south to Isigny sur Mer and after doing a supermarket shop parked at the town Aire de Camping Cars. After a while the rain abated somewhat and we got our bikes out and went for a ride.

Isigny is not "Sur Mer" at all. It is however on a tidal river.

We crossed the river. Tricky to negotiate for inexperienced bike riders?

The rain came back. We sheltered under a tree for a while.

On our return journey I took this photo back to our parking place across the river. Our van is top centre.

Back at the aire there was drama. A big posh A Class van had got stuck on sloping grass and to make matters worse had got a levelling ramp wedged underneath it! To give the other vanners on the aire credit they rallied round and tried to help. I lent my snow chains to the effort and eventually the van was freed onto hard-standing.

When we are travelling I think it is really important to buy local produce. Not only to support the economy of the places we travel to but also to experience tastes you might otherwise miss. In this area of Normandy Calvados, a spirit distilled from Cider is a real speciality and I'm on my second bottle already.

Today we travelled 22 miles (35 kilometres). We are at N49.32149 W1.10435
