Friday 17th May 2019

It's been a bit overcast today. We did a supermarket shop at Quettehon  before coming on to Saint Vaast de Hougue where we stopped for the day. We are parked on a narrow strip of land jutting out into the sea called the Hougue. Here's the view from the sliding door on the side of our van looking out over the oyster beds.

We got or bikes out and had a ride around. At the tip of the peninsula there is an old fortress which is still a military facility and you're not allowed in.

At low tide big vehicles come out to harvest the oysters.

I think oysters are a really big deal round here.

We folded up the bikes and put them back under the bed before taking walk into town along the breakwater.

As you come into town there is  memorial chapel dedicated to those lost at sea.

It's a small place.

On the walls there are many poignant plaques.

There is a big yacht harbour in town.

There are also some rather strange street decorations.

We wandered back to our van. It's 20.30 now and it's started to rain.

Today we travelled 7 miles (11 kilometres). We are at N49.57840 W1.27139
