Wednesday 11th May

In the morning things were a lot less spooky. We tried to find a trail into the marshes where we hoped to see Elk but soon got bogged down and had to come back.

We saw this butterfly - I think it is a Duke of Burgundy Fritillary.

We drove around the southern part of the National Park - we went through a lot of very primeval looking forest.

We climbed an observation tower and looked out over this enormous area of wetland.

Having completed the circuit of the southern section of the park we went up another observation tower quite close to Park Headquarters and we saw this Elk.

We also saw this red deer from the same tower..

We moved on to the village of Stare Dolistowo and found this marvelous wild camping spot by the river Biebrza to spend the night at.

We traveled 69 miles (111 kilometres) today.
