Friday 29th April

From Lokeren we continued east and soon crossed the border from Netherlands into Germany. A little later we went over the Rhine on this impressive bridge.

We stopped at the village of Raesfeld. We are staying at the Stellplatz (the German equivalent of an Aire de Camping Cars). It costs 8 euros fro 24 hours plus 1 euro for 12 hours electricity and 1 euro for fresh water. Just over the road from the Stellplatz is this rather enigmatic statue.

The highlight of the village is this castle - Schloss Raesfeld. Today it is used as a training centre for handicrafts and a restuarant.

The place was crawling with geese, ducks and their chicks.

Over the lake from the schloss is the nature park headquarters housed in this beautiful glass sided building.

We took a walk in the woods - there are many ponds and lakes like this. We saw a kingfisher.

We also saw these fallow? deer.

We traveled 63 miles (101 kilometres) today.
