Tuesday 3rd June 2025

Unlike yesterday the weather was beautiful this morning. We retraced our steps a short way north and did a supermarket shop and laundrette.

Then we travelled west and stopped briefly at St Bertrand de Comminges. Here's the Abbey. Ann's daughter Hannah's partner George's mother used to live here!

We'd been here before but didn't stay that time either. As you can see from the sign it's fairly unfriendly territory! On that occasion when we went to Camping Espibous it was closed!

We travelled up into the high mountains.

We got some good views.

We stopped for a drink and some cake at the Col d'Aspin 1489 metres.

There are plenty of free range cows here - a bit like Dartmoor.

As we set off to descend from the pass the clouds were gathering below.

Lower down there was some parapente practice going on.

We stopped for the day at the village of Beaudean at a commercial Aire. It costs 10 euros plus tourist tax to stay here for 24 hours. The pitches aren't level, it's just by a busy road, there's no rubbish bin and the fresh water tap is labelled as not drinkable! Altogether the most uninspiring place we've stayed so far on this trip, however there's a nice boulangerie a few yards away. It's been raining.

Today we travelled 54 miles (87 kilometres). We are at: N43.0261 E0.1695
