The Picos de Europa were still shrouded in cloud this morning so we decided to head east. We travelled down the valley of the River Cares stopping along the way to take in the sights.

It's an impressive valley.

We saw this orchid.

Another view from where we stopped off.

We stopped briefly at the Aire at Panes to service the van where I helped a Spanish vanner fill his water tank by lending him my large non standard adapter. We then came on west to San Vincente de la Barquera where we stopped for the day at a car park next to the sea. Here the view from our sliding door.

The front of our van is pointing out to sea.

There is a restaurant here and lots of people coming and going.

There's a good viewpoint at the start of the breakwater but the breakwater itself if fenced off.

There are good views to the other side of the estuary from the viewpoint.

We considered going for a meal in the restaurant, however having read the reviews on Google we decided against it - two recent cases of food poisoning and two cases of foreigners being badly treated by the staff!

Also nearby there is a small rocky beach.

There is some potential to get blocked in here.

Fishing boats come in and out of San Vincente quite frequently.

As dusk approached the lighthouse on the headland started doing its thing.

A very nice place to stay.

Today we travelled 31 miles (50 kilometres). We are at: N43.3926 W4.3894
