Sunday 21st October 2018

This morning we left Troyes and headed east. We stopped off briefly at Lac Du Temple an enormous reservoir just to the east of Troyes.

We passed many Champagne vineyards.

We stopped off at Colombey les Deux Eglises where Charles de Gaulle was brought up and is buried. His memorial is dominated by this enormous Cross of Lorraine.

There is a nice statue of him outside the ticket office. We didn't go in as it costs 13.50 euros each!

We continued east to Chaumont and parked just outside the city next to the river Marne. Here's the view out of our van door.

We got our bikes out and went for a ride along the side of the canal which runs parallel with the river Marne.

We passed a lock.

Eventually we came to where the canal goes into a tunnel.

We decided to turn round and go back to our van.

It seemed further going back as we had a slight headwind.

As the sun got low the view from our van to the river got even better.

Today we travelled 68 miles (109 kilometres). We are at N48.10882 E5.17080

Looks like you're having a good trip so far! We've finished washing things and I've finally caught up with where you are. Good travels! Andy

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your message.

We've had a good trip so far apart from the satellite dish breaking down for the third time in about 18 months. I reckon my advice to you to steer clear of TV satellite technology wasn't so bad after all!

Do you reckon you've got on top of the rodent problem?

Roger.
