Before we left Chartres this morning we did a supermarket shop before moving on east and stopping for the day in this car park in the Forest of Fontainebleau.

We went for a walk in the woods.

The floor of the forest is covered in giant boulders. This forest is known worldwide amongst mountaineers as an important area for bouldering - (climbing short hard problems close to the ground). You can see a boulderer's mattress here - designed to break an awkward fall.

This boulder we saw is a bit skull like.

Despite being very popular with walkers and climbers this forest is so big that you can walk for hours and hardly meet anyone.

We did however narrowly miss this bunch!

This is a really lovely place which I've known about for many years but never visited before.

On the way back to our overnight parking place we saw this holly bush with berries.

Today we travelled 61 miles (98 kilometres). We are at N48.41120 E2.59835
