Saturday 20th October 2018

This morning while I was otherwise occupied Ann visited some public gardens across the road from the Aire in Sens.

Looks like they were very pleasant.

We set off east and stopped along the way. There were two french vans stopped here at the same time.

This interesting structure was next to our stopping place. Inside there is a stream. Was it for laundry or bathing or both?

We moved on to the city of Troyes and parked on the bank of the river Seine. A few minutes later the two french vans which had been at our earlier tea stop turned up and parked next to us!

After doing a brief supermarket shop just round the corner from our parking place we wandered off into town and soon came upon this old church.

There are lots of old houses like this in the centre of Troyes.

A little further into town we encountered Troyes Cathedral. It is huge but by no means as big as Chartres.

We went inside. There are numerous paintings on the walls.

There are also some fine stained glass windows.

And some old engravings.

There is a museum with various relics and this small statue.

In town there is a basin which would have originally have been used to harbour ships from the Seine but is now mainly ornamental.

These statues are going for a swim.

We wandered back to our parking place.

Here's our view of the Seine out of the sliding door on the side of our van.

Today we travelled 45 miles (72 kilometres). We are at N48.30264 E4.08610
