As usual at Poole the Brittany Ferries staff were tapping on the side of our van to make sure we were up and about at the ridiculously early hour of 6.30! We eventually were loaded on board the ferry about 8.15. Maybe next time we travel this route we'll park overnight round the corner from the terminal? The ferry left on time at 8.30.

We whiled away the four and a quarter hour crossing to Cherbourg with breakfast from the self service restaurant and a read of The Guardian. We arrived in Cherbourg at 13.45 local time.

After getting off the ferry in Cherbourg we made the shortish journey to the town of Isigny Sur Mer and parked at the town Aire. After walking into town to get some euros and do a brief food shop we got our bikes out and had a ride around. There is a park with this nice lake.

There is a rideable circuit around the park.

We saw some old geysers playing boule. (Actually they are all probably much younger than us!)

We cycled out along the sides of the tidal inlets which reach into the town. Describing the place as "Sur Mer" is stretching it a bit in my opinion.

Ann took in the view.

Back at the Aire we packed up the bikes and Ann cooked tea. As regular followers of this blog will know, (if indeed there are any), Ann will not allow me to do any cooking in the van as she is labouring under the mistaken belief that if I did the cooking she would be expected to drive the van, empty the toilet etc etc.

Today we travelled 45 miles (72 kilometres) excluding the ferry crossing from Poole to Cherbourg.

We are at N49.32156 W1.10433
