Before leaving Ameixial we made the most of the free water and electricity by having showers. We traveled north through some beautiful countryside on very quiet roads. We soon crossed from Algarve into Alentejo.

We went through the odd small town en route.

We stopped for the day at Barragem de Roxo just to the west of Beja. (barragem means. reservoir in Portuguese). Here's our view one way.

And here's the view the other way.

We got out our bikes and rode across the top of the reservoir dam.

Over the other side of the dam the tarmac soon ran out so we came back.

Back on our side of the dam we met some dogs.

We assume the dogs "belong" to the local goat herder but we're not quite sure.

The dogs certainly seemed to want to befriend us or maybe they just wanted food?

Some of the goats have really long horns. There are two other vans here this evening, one Netherlands and one French.

Today we traveled 51 miles (82 kilometres). We are at N37.93628 W8.07997
