Another beautiful day. From El Bosque we traveled west passing the hill top town of Arcos de la Frontera pictured above. We stopped in Jerez, home of Sherry and Spanish Brandy, to take on diesel, LPG and do our washing in the service station launderette. Interestingly we saw no vines growing around the area of the city - where do they get the grapes to make the Sherry and Brandy?

We moved on south to the city of Cadiz entering over this impressive new bridge which our sat nav had no knowledge of.

Here's a view towards the city from on the bridge. We headed for a parking place listed in the Wild Camping database but when we got there all the spaces were full and it looked a very unsuitable place for over night parking even had we been able to stop there.

We drove around the old town.

It all looked very interesting.

However we couldn't find anywhere to park. Maybe this was due to it being a public holiday today in Spain, however I suspect that Cadiz is like this on any day of the week.

I think that it is the kind of place to come to for a weekend by plane having previously booked into a hotel in the old town.

Anyway having driven round quite a bit we gave up on the idea of finding a parking place in town and headed out to the dunes on the sand spit between Cadiz Bay and the Atlantic.

From the beach by our parking place we can look back towards the city.

From our van we have a (smallish) sea view. I went scavenging on the beach, found a couple of oysters, brought them back to the van and to Ann's absolute disgust ate them raw.

There was a nice sunset over the Atlantic this evening.

Today we traveled 78 miles (126 kilometres) - this included quite a lot of driving around in circles in Cadiz. We are at N36.46745 W6.25584

Some more really good pictures and writing from your travels.
You're almost in Africa, no doubt a little warmer than Widecombe.
-7C one morning earlier this week, but still quite dry.
Roger: would you have eaten the raw oysters if you hadn't banged your head? I think I agree with Ann on that one!
All is OK back home.

Hi Steve and Margaret,

Glad that you're following our blog. You and Ann are probably right about the raw oysters - it's amazing what people get up to once they've banged their head!

Thanks so much for keeping an eye on our house and post - very much appreciated.

Best wishes, Roger.
