Monday 6th June 2022

Ann has some birthday cards she wishes to post. We went into Freudenstadt to try to find a post office. It was a fruitless search and we eventually gave up.

From Freudenstadt we travelled north along the "High Black Forest Road" stopping from time to time to look at the view.

We saw the place where we had stopped overnight several years ago - it was behind the trees on the right side of this picture.

This area is a national park.

We could look down westwards into the Rhine valley and over to France. Eventually we reached the city of Baden Baden and resumed our search for a post office. We found two but both were shut this Monday afternoon.

We stopped for the day at a car park near Iffezheim on the banks of the Rhine - this is the very last of Germany - France is on the other side of the river.

Large cargo boats come and go on a regular basis.

We took a walk.

Nearby there is a road bridge crossing to France.

There are some graffiti beside the bridge.

We walked along the high flood defence banks next to the river.

This large area of solar panels is protected from flooding.

There were a few cars and a couple of other vans here earlier but as the evening went on they all left and we were on our own,

The sun went down over the Rhine.

Today we travelled 60 miles (97 kilometres). We are at: N48.8412 E8.1195
