Thursday 2nd June 2022

Today we decided to visit Oberammergau even though it was south east of Peiting and a bit off our route.  When we got there the town was absolutely packed out and we decided to get out as soon as possible. We later discovered that the famous Oberammergau Passion Play which is held every ten years and should have been held in 2020, but was postponed to this year because of Covid, is now playing to packed audiences! See: Oberammagau if you're interested. We retraced some of our route south east and then headed west before stopping for a cup tea at this nice parking place in the long poles.

We visited the fortified town of  Isny Im Allgau to buy some groceries and empty our van's waste tanks - some of the fortifications are seen here.

We stopped for the day in this beautiful forest glade in a nature reserve about 5 kilometres west of Isny.

We went for a walk in the forest where there was a rather shocking incident. A cyclist came by and startled Ann who lost her footing and fell over at the side of the forest track! The poor cyclist seemed to think that he had run into her and stopped to help her stand back up. Ann couldn't explain to him that she had just tripped over but he eventually accepted that she was alright and went on his way.

Luckily Ann seems none the worse for falling over.

We found a bench on the edge of the forest.

Here's another view from our parking place.

Today we travelled 97 miles (156 kilometres) much of it on the fruitless trip to Oberammagau and back. We are at: N47.6812 E9.9706
